Sunday, September 9
Augustana will have opportunities to serve and love our neighbors with several service projects on “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday. Plan to come for worship at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. (Note: Both services will be in Augustana’s sanctuary.) Before or after you worship, join Augustana members and friends as they put their hands to work for an hour or so beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Put on your “God’s work. Our hands.” t-shirt, invite friends, come to Fellowship Hall, and pick a project!
Keep reading for information about service projects, but watch for additional details in Sunday bulletins.
Need a t-shirt for “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday?
We have a limited supply in Augustana’s office, so stop by if you need one to wear on Sunday, September 9.
Portion rice and beans for clients of Metro Caring
One of the “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday activities will support Metro Caring with a food portioning event of rice and beans. This service will provide portion-sized amounts for Metro Caring to offer as part of their healthy food initiative. Other similar food portioning service projects held at Augustana have successfully involved many Augustana families.
A parallel activity will portion toilet tissue provided by Metro Caring.
Please plan to participate and help meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food.
Help purchase rice and beans
You can also participate by donating rice, beans, or money to cover additional costs related to zip-bags, boxes, gloves, and other supplies for the project. Make checks payable to Augustana, and indicate “God’s work. Our hands.” in the memo.
Pack lunches for Denver’s hungry and homeless
Help Augustana’s Children, Youth, and Family Ministry put together 100 lunches and hygiene kits for the homeless on Sunday, September 9. Please sign up online here to bring an item or two that will be included in the kits. If you are unable to help us put the kits together, you can still help by donating items! Drop them off early with Shanna or at Augustana’s office (just let them know it’s for this project), or bring them by 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, as we will be putting kits together then.
Our hope was that each list item could be found for $20 or less, so shopping at Sam’s, Dollar Tree, or other discount stores is encouraged! Thank you so much for your help!
For those who would like to help deliver these meals, please join us immediately following lunch. We will take a van and deliver them. Parents are encouraged to come along with their kids.
Craft items for neighbors near and far
Join Augustana’s Health Ministry/Prayer Shawl group to work on a project for the under-served communities around the world. Details are coming soon.
Celebrate the work of our hands with a “hand-food” lunch
Enjoy a “hand-food” lunch of sandwiches, fruit, and corn-on-the-cob following 10:30 a.m. worship on “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday, September 9. Paul Blanchard and his team will be serving it up in the courtyard.
Let us know if you are available to help prep or clean up! Contact Augustana’s office at 303-388-4678 or by email.
