What is “Gratitude Sunday”?
During worship on Sunday, October 23, members and friends of Augustana will have the opportunity to offer an Intent of Giving card for 2017. Here are some answers to common questions:
What is an Intent of Giving or “pledge”?
A pledge is a financial commitment you make to our congregation and the ministry of Christ for 2017. You are promising that next year you will give a certain amount through the Sunday offering or through the Simply Giving electronic bank transfer program. This giving supports the day-to-day ministry of Augustana as well as the worldwide ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Why does the church ask me to pledge?
- As followers of Jesus, we trust in God to care for us and give us what we need. As we are blessed by God, we prayerfully consider how much of those blessings we need to keep and how much we can give away. Growing in giving is a concrete way to grow in faith and trust in God.
- Like any household or organization, our congregation plans ahead for our ministry together. Your pledge helps us think about ministries, programming, and outreach for 2017.
On October 23 join together in Fellowship Hall for our Gratitude Gathering Brunch Potluck, 9–10:15 a.m. Bring your favorite brunch/breakfast item to share (simple or store-bought are great!).
God’s word. Our faith.
