Donate cans of chili for our Eighth Annual Chili Challenge!
Our Eighth Annual Chili Challenge begins Sunday, October 31 and concludes at the Thanksgiving Eve Community Worship service on November 24. Again, this year the Early Learning Center children and staff will be collecting cans of chili to feed families in need, and they are challenging the Augustana congregation to match or exceed the number of cans they donate.
Our cans of chili will be divided between Metro Caring’s Food Bank, the George Washington High School food pantry, and our own Sanctuary Soup Shelf.
Canned chili is a high-protein meal, and one can of chili weights about one pound. Let’s be generous, as we always are, and meet or exceed the challenge.
Please bring cans of chili (meat or vegetarian and preferably with pull tab lids) to worship between Sunday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 24, and place them around the communion tables in both Christ Chapel and the sanctuary. Together we can help each of these worthy programs achieve their goal of alleviating hunger in our community.
It’s our annual Chili Cook-off!
Sunday, November 7, 11:45 a.m., Fellowship Hall
You are invited to submit your favorite homemade chili to raise money for ELCA World Hunger. To enter your chili, please email Shanna with your chili recipe name and a brief description—and please include any allergens.
If you are not bringing chili for Sunday Lunch, please consider bringing a dessert or side to share.
Everyone is invited to come and taste the chili and to vote for your favorite chili with your coins, dollars, and checks.
Plan now to gather with Augustana members and friends to enjoy a little friendly competition, sample some great chili, and support ELCA World Hunger!
