It’s Christmas in July at WAM!

Room for Christmas
by Mark Burrows

It’s the week before the church Christmas pageant, and the cast of children is determined to bring new life to the Christmas story. But with a bossy angel, wisecracking shepherds, unruly sheep and know it all wisemen, will they get it together in time? Will the Christmas pageant be a complete flop? Or will the children somehow discover the true joy and wonder of Christmas by making room for what really matters?

All children who have completed grades 1–7 (Augustana children and friends in the community) are invited to explore and present the answer to that question in a week of worship, art and music camp!

  • What: Learn how to create scenery, backdrops and props; explore your dramatic side; sing and discover great music!
  • When: July 22–28 (Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.–noon, and Sunday morning worship, 10:30 a.m.)
  • Where: Augustana Lutheran Church
  • Cost: $75 per child; $125 cap for families. (For those in need, financial assistance may be available.) Register online below.

Each weekday begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. Every day includes breakout sessions in art, dance, drama and music. On Sunday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. worship, we will present the musical Room for Christmas. Participants are expected to participate each day, culminating in the Sunday worship and presentation of the musical.
