Augustana Early Learning Center is an outreach ministry of Augustana Lutheran Church committed to quality care and development for each child. We welcome children of different races, genders, cultures, religions, national or ethnic origins, and handicaps. We offer reasonable tuition rates and a grant program in order to serve families from a variety of income levels. 

Augustana Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the largest and most widely recognized accreditation system for early childhood schools and child care centers in the United States. Accredited schools and centers maintain consistent high quality in all areas of service.  

The Center, located at 5000 E. Alameda Ave., is under the direction of Christie Baroody, Director (303-388-7012 or [email protected]).

GirlProgram Philosophy
Our philosophy involves offering a quality program within a developmentally appropriate framework. We believe that play is the primary vehicle through which young children learn. We offer a rich array of experiences and activities that are designed to foster self-discovery, autonomy, and freedom to learn and create within a secure environment. Activities are open-ended and non-competitive so that all children may experience success. We see the child as a whole, with needs in all developmental areas: physical, cognitive, social and emotional. We value the diversity that different children lend to our program and promote curriculum and activities that affirm children of any race, religion or culture.

AELC accepts children from 18 months to school age. Our kindergarten and before- and after-school program picks up children from Palmer and Carson Elementary Schools.

The center is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. We operate year-round and are closed only for major holidays and one week in August each year.

Children are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to siblings, church members, and full-time students. We generally have waiting lists.

A $100 non-refundable registration fee is due upon enrollment per child.

  • Fireflies Room (12 mo. to 2½)
    • $ 957 per month due August 25, 2014 and then the first of the month October 1, 2014 thru May 1, 2015 ($210 weekly)
  • Bumblebees Room (2 to 3)
    • $ 957 per month due August 25, 2014 and then the first of the month October 1, 2014 thru May 1, 2015 ($210 weekly)
  • Ladybugs (3 by October 1 and completely potty trained)
    • $843 per month due August 25, 2014 and then the first of the month October 1, 2014 thru May 1, 2015 ($185 weekly)
  • Butterflies (4 by October 1) and
    Crickets Rooms (5 by December 1)
    • $843 per month due August 25, 2014 and then the first of the month October 1, 2014 thru May 1, 2015 ($185 weekly)
  • Before and After School (Public School Attendees)
    We pick-up and drop-off at Carson and Palmer Elementary. DPS holiday camp is open to all children attending area elementary schools.
    • $120 per week before and after school
    • $90 per week after school only
    • $80 per week before school only
    • $26 per day for less than five days or drop-in (before and after school)
    • $21 per day for less than five days or drop-in (after school only or before school only)
    • $200 per week when DPS is closed
      (i.e., Christmas, Spring Break)
    • Extra full days:
      • additional $16/day for those paying $120/week
      • additional $20/day for those paying less than $120/week
      • $40 per day: DPS Holiday Camp-School Year Drop-in Rate
        ( For example, if you are paying $120 per week for before- and after-care, and DPS is closed for a planning day, your weekly tuition for that week would be $120+$16=$136.)
  • AELC does not enroll before- and after-school children for less than two days per week. There is no reduction in tuition if your child does not attend due to school functions or enrichment activities.
  • Summer Explorers (Age: 5 yrs. by October 1 thru 5th grade)
    • $100 Activity/Registration Fee
    • $200 per week-full summer
    • $250 individual weeks
    • $50 per day for less than 5 days  
  • Summer Adventurers (Age: Toddlers thru 5 yrs.)
    • Continuous enrollment-Regular tuition rates apply
    • New Family or Summer Enrollment Only:
      • $100 Activity/Registration Fee
      • $200 per week full-time summer only (3–5 yrs.)
      • $220 per week full-time toddler tuition summer only
      • $250 individual weeks
      • $50 summer day rate for less than five days

(Summer is billed for the entire session and is based on the weeks that DPS is off for summer.)

There is a 5 percent discount off the tuition for the youngest child when there is more than one child enrolled. All children must be enrolled full time during the school year and the summer to receive the discount.
