Augustana offers many ministries and programs for all generations and strives to bring those generations together in worship, education, and fellowship. Our Evangelist Specializing in Youth and Family Ministry seeks to make participants feel comfortable, valued and involved. We celebrate our children, young adults, couples, and singles, realizing their distinctive gifts.
First Communion for 5th graders
Fifth grade students will receive their first Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 1 (no fooling), 7 p.m. Prior to receiving communion, two instructional classes will be held. These will be on Wednesday, March 17 and 24, 6:30–8 p.m. During class, Pastor Pederson will talk about the history and meaning of communion, and students will make chalices that they will use for their first communion. Class will be meeting in Room 1. Hope to see all 5th graders then!
Save the date
Sunday May 23 will be the last day of classes for our Sunday School year. This year, Youth and Family Ministry will host a church picnic and carnival. After 10:30 a.m. worship, join us in the courtyard for a barbecue, a bouncy house, games and prizes. Watch for more information.
Youth plan Mystery Trip
This year Augustana’s high school youth will be going on a Mystery Mission trip from July 25 through August 1. We will be on the road for a five-day mission project with a day of fun and games on our way there and back. Fundraisers for this event are underway. The youth will sell Duffey Rolls in Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings, $10 per pan or $1 per roll. We will also be hosting our annual Garage Sale on June 4 and 5. Start saving your “stuff” now for another great sale. We appreciate your support in helping our youth get to their secret destination.
