Growing In Faith

Students age 3 through those in 5th grade - Bible School is coming. This year's Bible school theme is "A Rainforest Adventure," held June 16-20, 2008. For more information please contact Beth Peay (303-388-4678 ext. 107) or e-mail beth@augustanadenver.org.

Three-year-olds through those students who are in fifth grade meet each Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel for Sunday School Opening. During this time students will sing, pray and celebrate birthdays and special occasions before being dismissed to their rotational workshop. Our Sunday School, Augustana's Orchard, works on the Workship Rotation Model. For five weeks students study the same bible story in one of five workshops, Arts and Crafts, Drama and Storytelling, Activities, Movies or Games. This year we are studying stories of Faith.

Lenten Communion Classes are offered each year for fifth grade students and other students that their family feels is ready for communion. During two weekly meetings, students will study the sacrament of communion, its meaning and symbolism. The students will design and make a communion stole that they will wear as they receive their first communion on Maundy Thursday.

Each year, students in second grade are presented with a Bible. Parents receive these Bibles several weeks earlier so that they and other family members have had an opportunity to mark their favorite or meaningful scripture verses. These are the Bibles that the students will be encouraged to use throughout their confirmation instruction.
