Trailblazers seek to provide fellowship opportunities for members and friends of the Augustana community through outdoor activities and service projects while encouraging respect and good stewardship of all of God’s creation. Devil’s Head Hike
Saturday, September 11, 2010, leave Augustana’s south parking lot at 9 a.m.
This hike is near Sedalia, Colorado. The final 143 steps consist of stairs up to the Devil’s Head Fire Lookout. This tower boasts fantastic 360-degree views. On clear days, mountain peaks over 100 miles away are visible.
Rating: Easy/Moderate
Distance: 3 miles round trip
Elevation: 8,800 to 9,748 ft.

Horseback Ride
Rocky Mountain National Park

Saturday, September 25, 2010, leave Augustana’s south parking lot at 9 a.m.
Join us for a scenic fall horseback ride in Rocky Mountain National Park. This two-hour ride leaves Moraine Park Stables, which is located just west of the Beaver Meadows entrance station. Ride through forests of tall ponderosa pine and view elk while riding to Beaver Meadows and returning through Moraine Park. Please contact guide no later than September 18 if interested. He will make reservations for the group.
Cost: $50 per person.

Matthews/Winters Open Space Park Hike
Saturday, October 23, 2010, leave Augustana’s south parking lot at 9 a.m.
This hike takes you past the old cemetery and townsite of Mt. Vernon, through open meadows filled with wildflowers with spectacular views to the north, east to Green Mountain and Dakota Ridge, and south to Pikes Peak.
Rating: Moderate
Distance: 5-mile loop
Elevation: 6,250 to 6,850 ft.

Rabbit Mountain Hike
Saturday, November 13, 2010, leave Augustana’s south parking lot at 8 a.m.
This Boulder County Open Space hike near Lyons, Colorado boasts expansive views of the Continental Divide. The nearby cliffs are one of the few places in Boulder County where golden eagles still build their nests. White tailed deer, mule deer and raptors also make their home here.
Rating: Moderate
Distance: 4.1-mile loop
Elevation: 5,600 to 5,800 ft.

Breadbreakers
Groups of eight current and prospective members gather for a potluck meal at one another’s homes to share food, fun, and conversation. The groups meet once a month for four months, each group determining its own schedule. Over 100 members have enjoyed Breadbreakers since it began in 2003. Career Transition Group
Unemployed? Underemployed? Need help contemplating a career change? This group has come together to help with those nagging questions. Come learn about improving your résumé, interviewing skills, and how to market yourself for your new opportunity. The group meet every other Mondays, 2 p.m. in the Ammerman Library. Thespiana, Augustana's very own play-reading group, has joined the information age! Our mailings are now distributed through a Yahoo! group called... no surprise here... Thespiana. If you'd like to keep tabs on what we're up to, or, better yet, come and join us, you can join that group. If you don't have a Yahoo! Augustana supports small group ministry by hosting many, such as Play Readers, a mid-week Bible study, and evening supper and book club groups. We will want to know how it connects with God’s Word and how your small group will pursue its purpose.
