Serving
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously, if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
(Romans 12:6-8)
Look around Augustana Lutheran Church and you’ll see people using their gifts to serve others. Someone with a kind, listening heart - someone with a talent for cooking—someone with great organizational skills—a beautiful voice raised in praise. People at Augustana volunteer as greeters, readers, communion assistants, ushers—people at Augustana volunteer as music directors, youth leaders, Sunday school teachers—people at Augustana volunteer in the church office, serve on council, take the van out on Sunday so that others may attend our worship services. It’s what makes Augustana Lutheran Church so special—so many people sharing so many remarkable gifts—giving so much of their time and energy.
