Coffee Hosts
Our Coffee Hosts arrive early to get the large pots of coffee going so that they are ready after the 8 a.m. service. The cookies are attractively arranged on platters and are placed out on the tables for young and old to enjoy. After the coffee hour is over, they also clean everything up and leave the kitchen as tidy as they found it. Coffee Hosts, who work in teams, are assigned duty once a month.

Communion Preparation
This ministry takes place in the Sacristy before each of the Sunday morning worship services. The team prepares the bread and wine to be served to the congregation during communion, and brings the trays and chalices to the serving stations. At the close of worship, the team puts away the elements and washes all of the communion ware in readiness for the next Lord’s Supper.

Flower Delivery
A group of volunteers hand-deliver the lovely bouquets that grace the altar each Sunday to members of Augustana Lutheran Church that are hospitalized or shut-ins. This is a lovely ministry that doesn’t take much time—about once every two months. If you’re interested in serving in this ministry, please contact Sandy Kistler (303-985-2673) or contact Augustana's office (303-388-4678 or info@augustanadenver.org).

Van Drivers
The vans provide transportation to worship on Sunday mornings. Vans are also used for Senior Ministry, Youth Ministry, Educational Ministry, Early Learning Center, and other groups of the church. Drivers are needed for Sunday mornings on a rotating basis monthly and for weekday activities as needed. Van drivers must be registered with the Augustana's office for insurance purposes.

Greeters
Greeters are the first people members and visitors meet as they come through the church door. They can leave a lasting impression on those who come to worship. Greeters welcome visitors and members to Sunday morning worship celebrations at entrances to the church with a smile.

Volunteer Nurses
Nurses are needed on Health Ministry Sunday (second Sunday of the month, between services in Fellowship Hall) to provide blood pressure screening and health counseling.

Library
Open for use every day and staffed by volunteers each Sunday morning, Augustana’s library contains a wide variety of both non-fiction and fiction selections as well as magazines and other resources. Materials are available for members to check out. There are also tables and chairs for reading and studying. Volunteers staff the Library on Sunday mornings.

Nursery
Our nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings, 8 a.m.–noon. During early worship and education hour we have a paid nursery attendant who is with us every week and will get to know your children. During 10:30 a.m. worship service she is joined by volunteers from Augustana who work one Sunday each month. During the school year we have middle and high school youth who will provide activities for your children age 4–7 during the sermon portion of the worship service. This gives children who are a bit older the opportunity to attend worship up to the children’s sermon and again during communion distribution.

Secretaries
Sunday secretaries (8:45–11:30 a.m.) answer the phones and assist members and visitors.

Ushers
Ushers welcome all who attend worship and special events. They distribute bulletins, assist with collecting the offering, and guide people to communion. After worship, they collect attendance information and pick up items left in the pews. Their ministry is crucial in welcoming and assisting people. Ushers are scheduled as part of a team for one celebration each month and occasionally for special celebrations.

Altar Guild
This group of 28 men and women serve Augustana by caring for the altar furnishings and vestments. Each team of four people works for an hour on Saturday mornings for two months of the year, preparing Christ Chapel and the Sanctuary for worship. Four quarterly evening meetings provide study, planning, and fellowship. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please contact Dianne Nelson (303-693-0118).

Communion Assistants, Prayer Leaders, Scripture Readers
Communion Assistants work as part of the teams that assist the pastors in serving communion during Sunday morning worship in Christ Chapel and the Sanctuary. Each family or individual serves approximately six times a year.

A prayer leader requires a clear speaking voice. Your duties would include writing and reading the Prayers of Intercession during a worship service. Your commitment would be approximately once every other month. Please contact Augustana's office (303-388-4678 or info@augustanadenver.org) if you are interested in serving in this manner.

Scripture readers read the lessons of the day during worship celebrations. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Chickie Bakkemo (303-399-2311) or contact Augustana's office (303-388-4678 or info@augustanadenver.org).
