On Sunday, January 19, come and hear an excerpt of one of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s sermons preached at both worship services by Professor Harry Waters Jr. Professor Waters will also lead a discussion about Rev. Dr. King’s speeches and sermons and what they teach us in Adult Forum, 9:15–10:15 a.m., in the Anna Paulson Room.
Professor Harry Waters Jr. teaches in the Theater and Dance Department of Macalester College, and he is also the Associate Dean of the Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship. A relevant aside, his parents, Harry and Betty Waters, are Augustana members. He portrayed Marvin Berry in the movie Back to the Future which earned him a Gold Record for his rendition of “Earth Angel,” guest-starred in many television roles, worked as an actor on and off Broadway, and directed productions in the Twin Cities, and nationally, and at Macalester College. Mr. Waters received his MFA in Directing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds a Meisner Acting Technique Teacher Certification with Larry Silverberg.
