Spring runoff should provide excellent photographic opportunities of Alberta and Glacier Falls. The hike begins at the Bear Lake trailhead and proceeds through Glacier Gorge to Mills Lake. Rating: moderate; distance: 5 miles round trip; elevation: 9,200 to 10,000 feet.
Next Sunday: The North Star Boy’s Choir
The North Star Boy’s Choir from Minnesota will add to our 10:30 a.m. worship in song! This choir of 24 boys, ages 8–15, is only four years in existence, but has already made a name for themselves. They have performed in the United States, Germany, Austria, and Italy. Do not miss this wonderful opportunity to hear them.
Support the Middle School Mission Trip!
Nine Augustana middle school students will participate in a YouthWorks mission trip in Wind River, Wyoming, in July. They will be leading Vacation Bible School-type activities with children from the reservation and doing minor home repairs and yard work. Here are two opportunities to support the youth’s mission work:
- Car wash: Next Sunday, June 14, 9:30 a.m.–noon, students and their parents will hold a car wash in the Alameda parking lot (south side, four reserved spots). Cars will be washed before, during, and after worship. Freewill offering.
- Money Wall: Envelopes designed by participating students will be placed on a wall. Each envelope will have a number on it; those who would like to support the trip choose an envelope number (1–144), put that amount of money (or check) in the envelope, and put the envelope back on the wall. For example, if you choose number 50 you would enclose $50. Augustana members and friends can support our trip at whatever level they feel comfortable. Look for the money wall at entrances to Augustana’s worship spaces on Sunday mornings.
Mizel Museum Tour
On Thursday, June 18, join Augustana’s Senior Ministry in a tour of the Mizel Museum to learn about Jewish history and culture by experiencing art, artifacts, photography, and videos, and hear about Jewish holidays and traditions. An educator will guide us through this one-hour tour in this small museum close to Augustana. Chairs will be available in each area of the museum. The cost is $5 per person. Meet in the Alameda parking lot at9:40 a.m. to car pool to the museum for our10 a.m. tour. After the tour we will have lunch at Zaidy’s on 1st Avenue. Make your reservation with Augustana’s office (303-388-4678) by Tuesday, June 16.
