Director of Music & Organist
Position Summary: Augustana’s music ministry is well known in Metro Denver and draws people to visit the Augustana congregation. New members often mention music as one of the reasons they join. Vibrant congregational singing supported by the organist and the Chancel Choir is a significant part of the worship life of the congregation. 800 members of all ages have the option of two Sunday worship services–8:00 a.m. (Christ Chapel) or 10:30 a.m. (Sanctuary & Livestream). Worship attendance ranges from 125-225 in person with an additional 25 on livestream in real time and over a hundred views in the week following services.
The Director of Music leads the music ministry, accompanies hymns and choirs on organ and piano, provides occasional choir leadership, develops programming, assists in worship planning, and supervises staff and volunteers to ensure that music enhances the liturgy and spiritual experience. The priority of this ministry is to invite musicians, congregation, and the outside community to experience the Holy Spirit uplifted by Christian community, including inviting and welcoming new people to participate. The Music Ministry works with all ministries of Augustana Lutheran Church for the spiritual development of the congregation and to fulfill its mission.
Open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, roles and responsibilities may shift to encourage exceptional candidates to interview for this position.
Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000/year
