To remember and to provide a legacy

The Augustana Foundation was established by the Augustana Lutheran Church congregation in 1971. The eleven-member Committee of congregation members meets quarterly (February, May, August and November) and is responsible for the investment and administration of funds which have been given by people wishing to provide a legacy or to memorialize and honor relatives and friends through Augustana Lutheran Church of Denver. These funds are professionally managed. Only the investment income from the original Foundation Fund can be expended at the discretion of the Foundation Committee. The principal can be expended only with the approval of a majority of the Congregation at a duly called meeting.

What happens to gifts that I give to the Foundation?

Through a gift to the Augustana Foundation, you have the unique opportunity to enrich the lives of others who share your faith, enhance the mission and ministries of the church, memorialize and honor loved ones, and leave a legacy.

Your legacy means:

  • establishing your place in the history of Augustana Lutheran Church and its far-reaching ministry;
  • helping continue the Augustana tradition of Lutheran leadership in the metro-Denver area; providing an investment which will continue your stewardship for generations to come.

The investment income has allowed the Committee to make grants for Augustana’s internal ministries including seminarian grants; financial support for Augustana students attending Lutheran colleges and universities; support for a wide range of ministries within the congregation.

Grants for external ministries in 2023 included Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains, Rocky Mountain Synod, ELCA, Restoration Outreach Program, Hands of the Carpenter, Maria Droste Counseling Center, Urban Servant Corps, and others.

We continue to provide ELCA MissionFuture4KIDZ Investment Fund gifts of $100 for each child baptized at Augustana. This is a wonderful way to begin saving for a child’s education, while investing in the future of the Lutheran Church.
