On Saturday, April 20, Augustana hosts “Hearts, Hands, and Voices,” a workshop presented by The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, one of several offered throughout the country each year. These workshops give church musicians, clergy, and church leaders a chance to meet together for learning and connection.
You’re invited to the day’s worship services!
The opening and closing worship services at this event are free and open to any one who wishes to attend. Augustana’s Deacon Shanna VanderWel and Director of Music and Organist Andrew Peters will lead Morning Prayer at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary chancel. The 2 p.m. closing service, which features readings and hymns from the entire church year, will be a creative way to end the day.
For those interested in registering for the entire workshop, the day-long “Hearts, Hands, and Voices” event is for church music leaders to gain ideas and expertise while networking with others. Workshop sessions will be offered on hymn playing on the organ, anatomy of the singing voice, leading choral rehearsals, handbells in worship, and more.
The entire workshop begins with registration at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2:45 p.m. Cost is $45, full-time students $20. Lunch is included. The deadline to register is April 16.
